HDFC Bank Infinia Credit Card to be issued in Metal form factor with additional features going forward

HDFC Bank is taking interest from the Indian credit card market with its aggressive posture in the market. Ever since it returned to the market after the RBI ban, HDFC Bank has already issued over 400,000 credit cards and relaunched three credit card products. However, as I mentioned yesterday, HDFC Bank skipped the (re)launch of the metal form factor card, which was supposed to be a part of the original announcement.

HDFC Infinia will be released as a metal form factor card later

While it is yet to be officially announced by the bank and will probably be introduced from next week, HDFC Bank Infinia will now have a new form factor, a metal card, which looks similar to the Chase Sapphire range in the United States. . .

Here are some of the features of the new Infinia:

• Complimentary Club Marriott Membership in First Year (Existing Facility)
• 1+1 complimentary buffet on weekends at participating ITC hotels
• 2+1 complimentary nights at participating ITC hotels
• 1:1 Tanishq vouchers and rewards redemption for Apple products

All these facilities will be valid for existing PVC cards (Plastic cards) also. However, along with the change in form factor, some new changes will be introduced. The fee for metal card will be Rs 12,500 + GST. If you choose to keep your existing card in plastic, you keep the old charge until the metal card arrives for you.

Secondly, for a cardmember to avail fee waiver going forward, HDFC Bank will be asked to spend at least Rs 10 lakh, which is 25% more than the minimum spend of Rs 8 lakh per year for now.

More details are awaited along with the date of transition to the new metal form factor.

I see this as a very good update on the cards on very reasonable terms. Infinia has been one of the most sought after credit cards in India mainly because of its excellent rewards ratio. So, thanks to a small update in fees, perhaps to cover the cost of the Metal Card, the card will now offer a lot for travel and lifestyle consumers.

HDFC Bank Infinia will switch to metal form factor with additional features in the coming days. ITC Hotels will offer Cardmembers 1+1 on complimentary room nights and buffets, with a 25% increase in fee and a 25% increase in minimum spend for a free card.
